Bar Manager

As a Bar Manager, you will be responsible for preparing and serving a wide range of craft cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, low-ABV cocktails, and specialty house-made beverages, while ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for guests. You will engage with guests, offer recommendations, and provide personalized service, all while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient workspace. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in both bartending and customer service, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality guest experiences.


Key Responsibilities

Managing Staff

  • Hire, train, schedule, train and supervise bar staff.

  • Foster a positive, team-oriented environment.

Craft Cocktails

  • Prepare and serve a wide variety of craft cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, low-ABV cocktails, and house made specialty beverages.

  • Demonstrate a deep knowledge of spirit categories, cocktail history, and our own Guest Engagement & Hospitality standards.

  • Provide friendly, personalized service by building rapport with guests and offering thoughtful drink recommendations.

  • Anticipate guest needs, ensuring a positive and memorable experience for both regulars and first-time guests.

  • Accurately take orders, repeat them to ensure clarity, and ensure that all guest preferences are met.

Cleanliness & Organization

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar area, following all health and safety standards.

  • Ensure that all bar tools and equipment are sanitized and that your station is prepped and ready for service.

  • Maintain proper inventory levels of liquid libations, garnishes, and bar supplies.

Teamwork & Communication

  • Work closely with the front-of-house team and kitchen staff to ensure smooth coordination of service and consistent guest experience.

  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and management and follow established protocols, keeping them informed of any issues or guest feedback.

Menu Execution & Creativity

  • Memorize and execute all drink recipes, ensuring consistency in every drink served. 

  • Stay informed about current trends in cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, and coffee service.

Compliance and Safety

  • Follow all alcohol-serving laws, including checking guest IDs and ensuring responsible service by not over-serving guests. 

  • Adhere to health code regulations, ensuring the safe handling of food and beverages. 

  • Safely handle all bar equipment and ingredients adhering to Sipeos’ safety protocols and cleanliness standards. 

Operational Efficiency

  • Handle POS transactions with accuracy and efficiency, ensuring smooth and timely guest checkouts

  • Be able to multitask and be adaptable in a fast-paced environment, effectively prioritizing tasks and managing time during high-volume periods. 

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs as needed, including cases of beverages, and other bar supplies.

  • Move quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, maintaining a sense of urgency during peak service times. 

  • Stand for extended periods of time while preparing drinks and engaging with guests. 


Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as a craft cocktail bartender. 

  • 3+ years of experience in service-oriented hospitality roles (e.g., bartender, server, host).

  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace in a high-stress, fast-paced environment. 

  • Strong knowledge of spirit categories, classic cocktail recipes, and the origins of various drinks. 

  • Ability to memorize and repeat drink recipes with precision and to build rapport with guests. 

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work well in a team and follow management direction. 

  • Familiarity with modern POS systems and ability to handle transactions quickly and accurately. 

  • Willingness to learn, grow and share knowledge with teammates. 


Additional Skills & Certifications

  • Bar Smarts, WSet, Somm, or other beverage certifications (preferred)

  • Experience in high-volume work environments (e.g., nightclubs, fast-casual restaurants or other)

  • Kitchen experience (pastry, prep cook, line cook etc.). 

  • Participant in craft coffee seminars or brand trainings/seminars.
